On edge of the forest. It goes for ever. As far as I can see anyway. The ground is hard as cement there.
Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. Just to give an idea.

It is very dry here in summer but definitely not as bad as in San Diego. And of course we do not have it hot just not rain. At the end of the season our big Western cedars
are suffering but recover in the winter raining season. Stay in the cool Delonix1. Or come up North.

I know even the North West U.S. the last few years have been suffering from above normal temps and below average rainfall. I hope one day things will get back to normal!
The biggest problem is southern California is that we were expecting a drought-buster from the very strong El NiƱo. The forecasters were predicting 200 percent of normal rainfall. All we received in San Diego is about 70 of normal rainfall which isn't much at all. It's really sad to see so many trees and plants drought-stressed and dying. :>(
I hope we do receive some good monsoonal rains in summer!
I do need to make a trip north, maybe as far as the San Francisco Bay Area.

That's a terrific photo!
The ground is like cement like in San Diego? I can't imagine that there where you get more rain than us.
I'm having to slowly drill holes around all my plants with an auger on a drill. This is so water can get to the roots of my plants and trees which have been suffering so badly from the severe drought. To add insult to injury, more extreme heat is heading our way again! Yuck!
