This is my small Monkeypod tree. It grows to around 20' or so in San Diego's subtropical climate and is not too common. In the tropics it grows to be a gigantic tree that covers such a large area, it's would amaze anyone! Photo taken on July 25, 2016. The leaves got a little burned when we had the 106ºF (41ºC) weather...and that was even with the high humidity. Yikes!

Bonsai here is almost impossible with the horrible drought. It would need too much water. I actually want this tree to get large...I think I want to sell it to someone who has room to grow it in the ground.

The make GREAT bonsai..you can really reduce the foliage size.
I just took my Ficus palmeri out of the old plastic bowl pot (Bonsai like shallow) and put it into a 3 gallon black nursery pot. It just has never grown in small pots for me. Its touchy. I think I've come very close to losing that valuable plant as its old and had a big trunk when I got it.
It seems to have some virus that runs through the leafs..squiggly lines.
I should post that problem.
