At last, our first (almost) ripe tomato!!

It's the shortage of sunshine HB, but mine are starting to turn too. There's nothing tastes better is there?

Oh, and I thought my secret was safe lol!

Hi Sheila, have you tried putting a few banana skins in among the trusses, should speed things up a bit for you, Derek.

Good tip Derek! I've been harvesting Toms since June...its quite amazing. Bit now they have all got blight and I'm about to bin them in the next few days and reorganise the greenhouse again. Have to say though...mine have not been tasty this year. I have cooked them all into pasta sauce.

We are looking after our daughter's toms.......she has several ripening at long last....... picked one tonight, considering how hot it has been here I thought they would have been much earlier...... just goes to show!!

Try next year the cherry tomatoes. They do better on less heat. You can still dice them up and use them in sandwiches in lieu of large slices of tomatoes. I think they have better flavor too..almost sweet.

You've been waiting a while for these HB. Our plants have been ripening but at a slow rate. They've tasted good though.

We grew some small yellow tomatoes as well as the Shirley tomatoes, this year, and they are very sweet with a thin skin....but can't remember the name.

What variety is that?
