Lovely. Do you keep it trimmed? One we once had was always needing a haircut to keep it clear of the ground. Yours is a picture.

I remember having this one mothers day, around 15 years ago, it fit in the car. OH has pruned branches, he's really good at cutting down but keeping the shape. Stera, I would prefer it dragging on the ground but OH gets annoyed when he mows so he skirts it.

Trouble is, if you cut it short, you cant hide inside it!

I love it ......if only I had the space!

If you let it trail on the ground too much though Dawn the grass under it dies off. We found it a messy tree and used to say it needed a hairnet... We hammered a couple of 6 inch nails into the trunk so the boys could climb up into it...

I know Karen, good hiding place, I remember running through them as a child at my uncle's house.

You're right Stera, they need a trim. Your boys must have had great fun climbing it.

What a stunning shape...I use to hide under one in the park when I was a kid.

I love to see them trailing, we've got a weeping birch & we just trim it 6" off the ground.

Dawn, imagine the Health and Safety attitude to those 6" nails nowadays.

I know Stera. H&S would have a field day here with pond, stream, bridges and ditches and trees for kids to climb.
