Happy Thanksgiving! "Over the river and through the woods, To grandmother's house we go...
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh through the white and drifted snow..."

Thank you Vjd. The scenery upstate must be awesome with the autumn colors and such. I had a wonderful time at a family reunion in Wantagh, Long Island.

I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving! It was very nice sunny here in San Diego. Very sunny and 80ºF (27ºC) on Thanksgiving Day.

Thank you. It was unusually warm, but not complaining. We really had a memorable day. :)

Paul, our weather has cooled down...only low 70's for highs now. I hope you're still having nice, mild weather!

Yes the weather is rather warm for December. We had thunder showers and irises are blooming in the front garden lol

That's great! I know it's getting closer to winter now. I don't like the shorter days.
We do have many tropical trees/plants which bloom in winter here. The Hong Kong Orchid trees, Calliandra, Erythrina species, Schefflera and so much more.

I know San Diego is the "sweet spot" when it comes to gardening. You have so many plants I've never seen.

Yes, we're pretty lucky! :>)) The mild subtropical climate here allows us to grow so many tropical-subtropical trees and plants. Epipendrum orchid hybrids love this time of year! So many people have them in their gardens. They look their best flowering this time of year. That's along with Camilla and Angel's trumpets.
I want to take some pics of Calliandra surinamensis (Surinam powderpuff) and post on GoY. They're all flowering now.

wow, I would love to have camilia, but doubt they would do well here. I've lost so many plants because of the harsh winters we have. Only the toughest ones survive. I can have orchids in my enclosed sun room. They do well inside. Look forward to seeing your photos.

Camilias tend to have some problems here with the heat. They start flowering in mid-to-late October when the weather can be extremely hot and dry. This causes the leaves and flowers to burn (most trees are planted on the North-side of a house or building).
One of my neighbor's has a large 18' Camilia, the poor thing always looks burned. It's growing on the north-west side of their house. It appears to bloom pretty well, though. Our current weather is perfect for it, now. High 70 and morning low 56 degrees.
