One of My Iris Borders

One of My Iris Borders (Iris germanica (Orris))

The Orange Iris is supposed to be Border Bearded, Maid of Orange 24", but the stems vary from 30" to 35 " so I am not sure. Bought years ago in a packet from a DIY store.

Beautiful and I love the tops on the canes. Corks?

Thorney, The corks ....most accidents happen at home! I nearly poked my eye out, years ago but looking down to see a plant and cutting my self on the end of a cane, luckily missing my eye, but only by millimetres. Now I put corks on the end of all canes. I might add, friends collect and give me their corks, in case you might think we have an alcohol problem.

That's so pretty ... love the comment re how you obtain the corks ... hic!

Recycling the corks,Shirley. I staked lots of Iris after the rain we had Friday night as they were toppling with the weight of the wet flower heads.

Yes Gg, I have heard about ping pong balls, but not as discreet as corks, of course you can buy green cane toppers.

That's going to a lot of trouble.

Good idea about the corks for the end on canes, Canes are dangerous as you say...at least they are more visible with an end stopper of some sort. This is a lovely selection of Irises.

Thank you, Linda, but a week on, it is in tatters with all the torrential rain and a couple of hail storms. The ground was white with ice pieces. In mid May!!

Oh no...oh thats so heartbreaking Sue. What a terrible bit of bad luck with the weather. :( Hope it all gets better for you now.

Lovely sunny day today. I just wasn't prepared for the change in conditions. You must know all about inclement weather, in Scotland.
