3p I've found out it's in the pruning ' group 1' which means little or no pruning and are best left to their own devices except to remove old or diseased shoots , Thank you for making me look into it :o))

I just lost mine in the recent drought spell. :( Although I did water it quite a lot it just died on me. Silly how you can get so upset when you lose a plant you really love ...

This is the prettiest willow I've ever seen. I'm tempted to try it along the stream but had a less than happy experience with willows in the north. The swamp willow in the north releases fluffy seed in spring and it is so prolific that it looks like snow! any little bit of water captures the fluff and reseeds the plant. some willow swamps in the north are so dense it's almost impossible to walk through them. So you see, I'm living down a previously bad experience with willow...but I'm sure this is a much more "civilised" willow.... and so pretty!

What a shame Amsterdam I know that feeling when you lose a treasured plant ....
Lori I can easily visualize the problem with the swamp willow we often stay on a farm near our daughters it has a pretty lake with Willow trees round it ,the 'Fluff' covers everything ,its like a white carpet and I'm sure your swamp willow is probably a bigger mess , the farm is called 'Willowways ' ..... these ones of mine are quite tiny in comparison I have them in pots .....

they're so pretty and keeping them in pots may be exactly what they need. I know the wythes (sp.?) are used for many different practical things, it's the fluff and the aggressiveness that I didn't care for. still, a very useful plant and in this case, very pretty.
