so pretty... I stopped planting them because I was afraid for the deer. I'm sure they are instinctual about native plants but not sure if they wouldn't sample something so tall and attractive. Their flowers are so alien.

These flowers are very pretty! If I remember rightly our local council's gardening dept planted these on roundabouts here a number of years ago.

Hi Balcony and Amy.. sorry to pop into your conversation but some countries have bans on certain plants because they are too well suited. (This may explain why it's not seen in the Mediterranean countries..? ) If memory serves, Delonix1 said that they grow very well in Southern California, which at present is quite dry and hot. They may also be categorized as dangerous because the seeds and sap are deadly poisonous as it is the source of the nerve gas Ricin. A beautiful plant in the garden though, just don't eat the beans!

A good warning, Lori!
