It's getting more water and fertilizer. Banana plants love tons of water and fertilizer to grow fast. (they need it).

Yes, it has really good bananas. I haven't had bananas in a few years due to the drought. Bananas must have a lot of water and fertilizer to produce big bunches of bananas. Home-grown bananas are the best! :>))

That's great it produces bananas . I hope you get some this year I 've never tasted home grown ones don't think they would grow here with our weather except at the Eden Project they grow there when I went. years ago.

I won't get any bananas this year. It has to bloom, then it takes from 3 1/2 - 4 months (in summer) to 5 - 6 months overlapping winter, to ripen.

I've seen pics from the Eden Project from Meanie, on GoY. He's posted several pics over the years.

Yes, it takes quite a while for bananas to ripen. I've had Mysore bananas ripen in a little more than 3 months (during summer). Bananas and papayas are high-maintenance fruits. They need a lot of water and a tremendous amount of fertilizer.

I did nt realise they both were high maintenance 3 months is good nt as long like I thought do you spray water on the foliage at night in a drought.

Oh yes, bananas and papayas are very high-maintenance fruit crops. It's because they need so much water and fertilizer. In Central America where most of the world's bananas are grown commercially, they're grown in the tropical rainforest. They're still very high-maintenance even there.

Yes Now I can imagine in central America needing lots of water but did nt rralise they needed so much in the rain forest.

They need only fertilizer and regular maintenance in the rain forest.

They still are considered a high-maintenance crop. There's wires to keep the plants for blowing down and diseases to be dealt with. The lists goes on-and-on. I was so surprised when I saw the documentary on growing bananas in Central America.

Yes, it is...especially in commercial plantations. Commercial bananas are susceptible to many diseases especially on plantations.

Yes I can imagine with growing them in great numbers.
