It is a beautiful colour.
We have struggled with black spot on many of our roses this summer.

Shame about the black spot. I blame the wet weather.

Thanks all, it has been worse than ever trying to keep the roses clear.....Beechcroft recommends mouth wash!! and to spray with obviously a diluted mix!!

This is a lovely rose!
Isn't the name from Argentina? I seem to remember the "Madres de la Plaza del 5 de mayo" manifested many times demanding the return of their loved ones.

Just for info.
Parentage: Topsy Turvy x Julia Child.
The date is to commemorate the Mexican Army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

I answer my own question with this extract from Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothers_of_the_Plaza_de_Mayo
"The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo (Spanish: AsociaciĆ³n Madres de Plaza de Mayo) is an association of Argentine mothers whose children "disappeared" during the state terrorism of the military dictatorship, between 1976 and 1983. They organized while trying to learn what had happened to their children, and began to march in 1977 at the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires, in front of the Casa Rosada presidential palace, in public defiance of the government's state terrorism intended to silence all opposition.
To the people of the country, this era represents the lives taken, families broken, and numerous human rights atrocities executed by Argentina's military regime. The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo were the initial responders to these human rights violations. Together, the women created a dynamic and unexpected force, which existed in opposition to traditional limitations on women and motherhood in Latin America. The mothers came together and pushed for information on the whereabouts of their children. In carrying out these efforts they also highlighted for the world the human rights violations occurring, and raised awareness on local and global scales. Their legacy and subsequent progress have been successful due to their sustained group organization, use of symbols and slogans, and silent weekly protests. Today, the Mothers are persistently engaged in the struggle for human, political, and civil rights in Latin America and elsewhere.[1]
I hope you will forgive me, GF, for usurping your thread but I thought this piece would be of interest to everyone on GoY. Most of us are parents or grandparents so we can sympathize to a degree with these Argentinian mothers & grandmothers.

Not at all, Balcony, in any case the thread is DD's.
It's a very sad story (did you read all the article) the final march was on 26 January 2006 but I don't see what it has to do with this rose or the 5th May.
The story of the 'missing' has been made into a film, an opera, song & documentary.(Some 30,000, of which 500 said to be newborns).

No, I didn't read all the article but enough of it to know that the protests ended many years ago. But while I lived in Spain their marches & protest meeting were frequently in the news programmes.
