This very exotic tropical plant does very well outside in San Diego's subtropical climate. My Philippine Orchid is just about to bloom. The flower buds are white and will turn pink, red and purple. This is the first time it's going to bloom since 2011. It's been pretty neglected during the long 6 year drought. Photo taken Sept. 16, 2017.

The buds are starting to turn pink now. It should flower over 3 or 4 months. Then it develops little very dark purple berries.

It has produced seed. I need to plant them to see if they grow, though. I know where I purchased the plant at Kartuz Greenhouses, the owner starts new ones from seed. He said they grow easily. He used to grow them from cuttings.

Thats great the seeds are easy I suppose you could try cuttings as well.

Yes, I hear the cutting can be difficult. They need to be in a very hot greenhouse.
This plant doesn't grow very fast. So, it's probably best to grow it from seed.

Yes seeds sounds best then if the cuttings need such continuous heat.

Looking forward to seeing the flowers when they open!

Penny,
The cuttings, I'm sure could be rooted here in summer. I think it'll be easier from seed, though.
