Yes, a friend who's a horticulturist. We're always trading plants.
Alternanthera 'Hoja del Oro' reminds a little of my Iresine lindenii (Blood Leaf) plants, which I have many.

Its lovely to have reds against greens they compliment each other so I see you like your reds.☺
12 Oct, 2017
Yes, I love red or variegated plants. This is why I have lots of Acalypha, Crotons, and Iresine.

A great foliage plant by the look of it....
13 Oct, 2017
Yes they give colour all the time .

Penny:
Yes, definitely.

I remember when a Alternanthera was sold as an aquatic plant. I think some are. Or seasonally in the tropics

I think it does love a lot of water. I love the leaves on this one. I hope it grows pretty full by next spring.
16 Oct, 2017
I am sure it will yes can see why you love the leaves they have a lovely colour. We place grit on top of our planted pots to retain moisture stop winds and heat drying the soil out.
16 Oct, 2017
We have to put a lot of heavy mulch and then, it does always keep it moist with the very high temps we have here.
18 Oct, 2017
Yes anither great idea mulching especially your plants your plants being on the bigger side.
18 Oct, 2017
Yes, what's recommended for plants in the ground is 3 to 5 ft of mulch here in the South-West, believe-it-or-not. It's the only way it keeps the plants moist. The soil here gets hard like concrete.
19 Oct, 2017
Wow thats a lot if mulch but understandable with your heat there. I can imagine your earth is like concrete Andy I know had mine gets if there is nt a lot of rain you could nt even penetrate the earth with a fork goodness how you manage when you want to move a plant.
19 Oct, 2017
It's not easy to dig a hole or move a plant. If the area is water well over a few days it'll get soft, though.
21 Oct, 2017
I can imagine it is nt Andy with the heat baking the soil. You need a good lot of rain then.
23 Oct, 2017
Yes, we do need a lot of rain. LOL! It's difficult to think of rain when it's roasting here! UGH! It was in the low 100's today. Tomorrow is suppose to be hotter! We did break some heat records today...and they are very high for this time of year. Tomorrow more high-temp records will most likely be broken.
24 Oct, 2017
Yes I imagine it is hard to think of rain with temoretures your having there . It must be hot to brake records lets hope soon it cools down for you Andy.
25 Oct, 2017
Yes, it's difficult to think of rain when I'm melting in the heat here! LOL!
Yes, it's not suppose to be quite as hot tomorrow...maybe low 90's (34ºC) instead of the 105ºF (40ºC) weather.
26 Oct, 2017
If that was me I would be dreaming of rain let alone think.
Lets hope it can keep that bit cooler until next week when the heat drops.
26 Oct, 2017
Yes, I am hoping for rain soon!
It's been hot for several days...next week will bring cooler weather ( upper 70's F or 26 C. YAY! :>))
27 Oct, 2017
Lets hope it rains for you Andy.
Thats great would you like our temp at present 6 c lol
27 Oct, 2017
It's cooled down quite a bit today. Yay! It's only going to be 72ºF (22ºC) here today. It feels so refreshing! :>)))
6ºC is really COLD!!! I hope it warms up for you soon!
30 Oct, 2017
Thats great its cooled down over there for you at least you ll be able to have a decent night sleep. .
Yep minus - 4 last night 6 c at present again here.
30 Oct, 2017
Yes, it feels so much better.
Wow! -4ºC is very, very COLD! All my plants in my yard would be dead at that temperature.
30 Oct, 2017
Thats good to know it feeling much better for yous there.
Yes it was cold last night lol good job your plants dont live here then.
30 Oct, 2017
Yes, definitely better. San Diego Bay water temperature is 71ºF (22ºC), so the air temp can't get to cool here. It will stay in the 73ºF (23ºC) range all week here. It's below normal by 6 or 8 degrees. However, it's fine with me...I'm so tired of hot weather!
31 Oct, 2017
Thats good its below normal now yes to much hot weather gets over bearing does nt it.
31 Oct, 2017
Yes, the heat was HORRIBLE! I'm so glad it'e cooled down! Yay!
1 Nov, 2017

1 Nov, 2017
Well, when you feel like you're in an oven, and it cools down, it is a big relief! LOL! :>))
4 Nov, 2017
LOL Are you saying you felt like Hansel as in Hansel and Grettle lol.
4 Nov, 2017
Definitely! LOL! It's been really cool here the last few days...the highs only in the low 70's (22ºC)...which is normal for January. I'm not complaining, though. :>))
6 Nov, 2017
Lol thats great you now have cooler weather there lets hope it remains cool for you . No you best not to complain that heat might hear you and return?
6 Nov, 2017
The heat will most likely return...it's not over yet!
7 Nov, 2017
Lets hope it is not to hot if it does.
7 Nov, 2017
