Plucking juniper berries. He's been living in my garden for a couple years already.

They're nice to have around. They eat lots of nasty bugs.

Great! Do they imitate other birds’ songs like our ‘Blackbirds’ do?

Yes they do. They even imitate my power tools. Real characters!

What a beauty and beautiful photo. I have never seen one
except in my mind. And a book...how lucky to have him
around all the time. I know we have owls that live around us but have yet to get a photo...The moon is fantastic though.

They are quite loud and shrill arent they...but what a repertoire and what stamina!

Oh yes, they can be. Most of the time they are very quiet - when they found a mate, when they are nesting, raising the babies, hunting for prey. They can be territorial. They won't let other birds near my juniper trees.

Now you say Juniper trees, their habitat? It is so cold here, and windy the birds are freezing.

Oh yes a pair has a nest in my Juniper Trees. They sent off a couple chicks in the Spring. Now they are back tidying up the old nest.
