I've never seen a real gardenia before, how beautiful.

I hope you get a chance to see and smell a gardenia. The fragrance is intoxicating in a good way

Actually, they fade to light yellow, right? I do love Gardenias. Luckily, they grow into small tree or large shrub here in the ground.

They will start to yellow as they age, then brown. Deadheading will keep it looking good. There are dozens of varieties, some are low ground covers, others are large shrubs or small trees.

Yes, there's the lower groundcover varieties, also. I do see them commonly for sale here, also. They're usually varieties of Gardenia radicans.

My favorties are: Gardenia taitensis, thunbergia and G. carinata, which becomes a huge tree and smells just incredible! The flowers fade to orange on G. carinata.

Yeh they kinda smell like my grandma's bathroom, lol! My fave is the Kleim's Hardy Gardenia. It's a single but I love the simplicity of it.

Lol! The smell of Gardenia reminds me of Hawaii. My aunt had huge 10 ft (3 m) shrubs in front of her house in Ewa Beach, O' ahu, HI.

I know Kleim's Hardy Gardenia is very popular in colder climates. Most varieties of G. jasminoides are pretty darn hardy.
