Sempervivum Collection

I’ve had them covered with cloches until now, I’m so pleased I protected them.

I'm loving these Dawn. I particularly like the plain bright green one. I shall keep an eye out for that!

Karen, I think it was you and Hywel that suggested I cover them through winter and they look great. I bought a collection of 6 from Crocus for something like £14, I emailed them as 2 were of the same variety and very advertised as being all different, as apology they sent me another 6 FOC which were different ones :-)

Well, that's Customer Service eh?! :)

Thats how we buy them in packs of six....and they do need covering, they seem to hate the wet!! despite being house leeks!!

Yes Karen, I lost a cardoon and they replaced that under guarantee.
Dotty, you probably advised me to cover them too, they've not looked great covered but it's done the trick.

They look great, must remember to cover mine, along with ....& ..... the list is endless.

I nabbed a green one today Dawn!

The cover has been well worth it.
Whoo Karen!

I read Siris' comment and nodded in agreement... the list, and time. I love these. I must send you a pic of my friends retaining wall, which has been allowed to grow up pretty wild..but the initial planting was with "Hens and Chicks"... the wall is about 15 ft tall and south facing and the H&C have colonized beautifully. Not sure how they've fared this long cold winter..they've been totally exposed all the years they've been there. It's probably the specie, tough as boots...not your lovely varieties.

Oh I don’t know Lori. It depends what side of the uk you’re on. The East is far dryer, so Zi never cover m8ne and they always do well. This winter they have shrugged the cold off beautifully.

It's the constant winter wet apparently that they hate, Lori, probably the retaining wall suits they as they don't sit in water.

I have lost 8 good Echeveria 'Pearl of Nuremburg' that were in the top of pots. But they are borderline anyway, so no surprise. I still have the parent which I kept in the garage, so never mind.

Oh Karen, just googled, so lovely, what a shame, I'm pleased your back up plan is in place.

Very nice Dawn :)

Hywel, I'm so grateful you advised me to cover them to protect against the wet over winter!
