Golden Birch

Stunning effect I can see why its called golden shimmering like an antique gold when the sun light hits it.

It has grown so much Dd, this last couple of months, shall need it pruning in the winter!

Janey how to you prune yours because we have some that could do with some work, you don't take the top out, or do you? I would be interested to hear...

This one is finer boned than my other Betula which I had lopped last winter and now has a huge canopy; this winter I shall have it taken right down, probably use the stump as a base for a bird house or table. It's a shame, as I love birches, but had been a wild sapling from our old place and far too large for my garden.

The Golden Birch I will have the top taken out, but also the branches thinned, I need to be able to manage it myself. It really is a lovely tree but has grown sky high with the wet spring then our summer heat...
