Celia Smadley is a bright scarlet and the flowers are very big. It sounds as if you've got a wrongly labelled one Sue.

It must be a tough little beggar.

LolWaddy...
Thank you Hywel. I was so put out as I had to order 6 varieties to get Celia (not that I don't like the others, I do. Anyway I haven't got room for another 6 so will put up with the one I have unless you think its worth complaining to Potash Nurseries?
By the way, have you grown Wharfedale? I loved it last year but its been very slow to start and I wondered if it was borderline hardy even in a mild winter like the past one.

Some of them are tougher than we think Waddy …
I've never grown Wharfdale Sue.
You could mention it to Potash Nurseries. Send them a photo of it. They may send you a Celia Smedley free of charge :)

Nice - I like the ones with white petals.
Which reminds me - you remember I bought Celia Smedley last year? All the pictures show her as white and scarlet but this one isn't scarlet, more a sort of puce colour. Not unpleasant but not what I was expecting. Was yours a true scarlet?
