Elephant hawke moth for Hywel

My great niece,s little girl found this in their garden and her mum posted it on face book to find out what it was they identified as a elephant hawke moth and one of her friends said it if you have fushsias they love them ! the little girl wanted to keep it as a pet ...

Thanks Kidsgran, I've seen these in my garden in the past, I have lots of Fuchsias but I've always seen them on other plants, never on the Fuchsias although they say they like them.
I haven't seen any this year, nor the adults but I did see a Poplar Hawk moth as in the photo …
