Hi Tt, it is a very strange Iris, evergreen strappy leaves and a nondescript beige /brown flower in spring. Then when you've forgotten all about it, the seed pods pop and there are the most colourful things about it! The pods of these ones ripened early this year.... If you'd like a plant let me know..:))

Thanks Janey... the pods are fascinating...
I wonder whether the iris would thrive in my usually very dry soil ... does it need damp conditions ?

Yes they are very colourful. I have it in dry shade and also full sun, so I think it's happy wherever..xx
