They sure are Linda - they make the garden come alive.

We've seen a red admiral butterfly the last couple of days. Not seen many of the coloured butterflies this year again, only the whites. I've started to gradually cut down everything in the garden, but have left the lavender and they still have the roses to get nectar from. Plenty of bees about on the ivy flowers yesterday, when Gerry and I went for a stroll along one of the lanes around here. We met a rider on a fleabitten grey, (colouration of a white horse with grey flecks on its coat!) and I made a fuss of the horse. We also met a very small ginger Shetland pony being led on a halter by its owner and made a fuss of that too. Lovely...….

Those walks must be so tranquil & peaceful, and those autumn colors. Enjoy it while you can. I haven't seen any red admiral butterflies this year. I remember them being quite common here a couple years ago. Then I studied their incredible journey from the Carribean Islands and wondered how I ever got to see 1. They seem too delicate for such an arduous journey. I love to ride my bicycle through the woodlands on these cool & sunny autumn days - with camera in hand. Nobody can disturb me when I'm on my bike, lol.

I could imagine those colours in a beautiful stained glass window Paul ..

That's exactly what I think of when I see one. They are just amazing to see, also that they fly to Mexico.
