Thanks Linda - I've been visiting this fella for years now, leaving him a heap of oats. He seems to remember me - letting me get this close.

They get to know who's kind to them Paul. Gerry only has to shake the bag of wheat, and the swans come swimming across the river to us to be fed.

That's interesting. This swan dominates this pond, him and his mate. The rest are ducks & geese. He was following me along as I was riding my bike lakeside and he wanted to walk up to me but I didn't want him that close.

We have one pair of Swans that dominate this area of the river Paul, but near to my sister's at Woodbridge in Suffolk, there are loads of Swans that live closely together.

Perhaps they are related somehow. Maybe from the same brood or is it a very big river?

Could be related Paul, but when I visit my sister we always go to Woodbridge in the week. It's an outlet to the sea.

He's a beauty, Bathgate! It's minus 12 here and I think all the geese, ducks and swans are flying south... The town of Stratford, (in Ontario) has swans which swim the river Avon near the Festival Theatre... I believe that they are wintered here, and given special care as they are a gift from the Queen. https://www.canadiangeographic.ca/article/swans-waddle-through-town-stratford-ontario
