That's strange CK, we saw quite a few this morning on the different wild flowers growing alongside the old stone walls.

Just wondering if it could possibly be a common blue -some of them can be grayish rather than bright blue, and it is the right shape and has the white border. Angus and Derbyshire both have lots of limestone, which they like.Isn't it attractive?

The one I saw was very brown. This does look like a common blue.

We wondered if it was that Sterra. Thanks.

Just managed to find out the butterfly Sterra as we are doing a butterfly count. It's a Ringlet.

Well I am surprised! Glad you got it properly identified anyway. Ididn't know that the females don't usually have the little rings along the wing edges. Learn something every day on here!

I learnt something as well Sterra. The Big Butterfly count is from the 19th July until 11th August and we got our sheet of butterflies from the internet.

I could count this year's butterflies so far on my fingers. Not even any Small Whites round the brassicas.Hope things will pick up a bit.

I saw a Red Admiral yesterday and a couple of white butterflies, also a meadow brown.. We are supposed to be getting an influx of Painted Lady Butterflies coming over. Haven't seen any yet.

It never ceases to amaze me how a caterpillar that eats green food then changes into a beautiful flying creature that sucks nectar.

I saw this one today too. Never noticed it before. But strangely, it followed me all the way up the hill, and back down. Maybe it was a departed spirit...but it was very odd!
