They are rewarding you for your patience. I have the opposite problem, with our conitions they come out quite early but they don't last long. Plants die off quickly.

I know what you mean Pollyannaever,
Place for plants on my patio and deck is limited so I have been known to be ruthless. Recently I ripped out 2 purple sage plants that had grown very well this year, because they just did not smell and taste enough like sage to us.
So out it went!!!

Yup! Somtimes we gotta be tough! Sage should be sage, but for variety are you familiar with pineapple sage and honeydew melon sage? Oh, wonderful!! I grew them in my garden before I became an apartment dweller. The can grow quite large if you let them but they reward you so much! Do you have many herbs growing?

I have what I consider quite a few herbs, recently I posted a pic of a pot I put together of unusual ones and in it is Pineapple Sage. I am kinda disappointed in it though, the scent is very light and it doesn't really have much of a taste. What did you use it for, flavoring, potpourri? I use a lot of herbs in cooking and making teas so I like growing my own.

Wohlibuli, please excuse me. I had forgotten your profile and am scrambling to try to keep up with everyone!
My pineapple sage was very fragrant also same for the melon one. I am wondering if the soil would make a difference and I have also read that the part of the day you harvest it can make a diff. in taste also. My favorite way to use the pineapple sage is with chicken. I love to do a whole roasted or on bbq. chicken with the sage rubbed generously inside and out and under skin. Also in a sweet sour chicken dish or stir fry.

I'll have to do a google search for recipes to try with it. It certainly is growing fast enough.
