Oddly, my gerbera - purchased during the summer - has decided to bloom in November. Only spotted the one bud which has opened. Won’t last long I expect...

I had some red ones Kate. The did this and went on trying to flower well into the winter. I hope yours survives. It looks very healthy.

It is quite a nice surprise, Amy. Just hope it lasts for a bit longer, like Karen mentioned with hers!

Hi Kate, your choice of planting position has probably allowed this to happen, it being sheltered by the other planting, it looks like G jamesonii, which will be ok down to about 41f, as long as it doesn't get too wet as well, Derek.

Thanks for relaying some more info, Derek. Much appreciated! I have this gerbera in a pot - may help it, as well as being surrounded by some evergreen plants :)

Hi Kate, if it's in a pot, I would place it in a shed or garage, [I don't think you have a greenhouse do you] on very cold nights, or days as well of they get very cold, but put it outside again, as soon as it warms up again, Derek.

Yeah...they hate the wet! Thats what finished mine off.

Hi Karen, sorry to hear that, but as you say, they hate wet, lot of plants can stand cold, but not wet and cold, Derek.

Thanks Derek, sounds like a good plan! You’re right, sadly I’ve no greenhouse :(
I’ll put it in the garage or shed. Thanks again.
