I've been lopping the Silver Birch. It's still a weird shape, but there's so much more light now...:))

Hi Paul....that's the problem with trees in a small garden, and the type of tree. I love the Birches, they are so good for cleaning pollution from the air. Maybe it's time to control the Maple..
Ahh, the olive farm was quite a few years ago now, but last time I visited, all was well, the olive trees pruned and well cared for and the terraced garden, looked beautiful..:))
I know Meadow, I love the bark...so really would like to keep a stump with a birdhouse on the top. So far I haven't the heart to take it down so far and kill it.

Hmmm Hi Janey! You've got me looking 'cross-eyed' at my red maple. It's out-grown its space and is sucking up all the moisture in the whole garden. Hardly anything else can grow. How's the olive farm by the way?
