St Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers....This makes her the Welsh equivalent of St Valentine.
My son has a card gallery in Chepstow...he was quite surprised to see these cards at the NEC exhibition.
Plenty were sold,glad to see loyal,Welsh support.

Oh yes..the family is from Brithdir in Glamorgan. The valleys. Mining stock. My Great Grandfather’s nickname around those parts was ‘Dai Brithdir’. His name was David Williams. Must have been well loved and respected to be known by the name of the village. WW1 veteran of course.

Lovely to see some Daffodils .
The date I got married lol both my parents and ancestors are Welsh but 1500s one of my great grandfather s on my dads side worshiped in Kingswood Abbey first family listed in the Abbeys book some relatives moved to Yate and Wooton under Edge.

I am one quarter Welsh Julia, so that's definitely good news. I have never heard of St Dwynwen though. :) Thanks for the info. :) Lovely daffs. I have a mixed bunch in the kitchen at the moment...from the supermarket. With tulips and jonquils and hyacinth. The scent is very heady. I'm surprised OH hasn't complained yet. ;)
