Pittosporum fruits

Very interesting. Something I am unlikely to ever see as I can't keep Pittosporum here with our winds.

Oh that's a shame Karen ... the foliage is perfect to put in with a vase of flowers. This one will get a 'haircut' by a professional sometime this year as neither OH nor I are willing to stand on ladders to do it now ... :o(

Are you sure they're fruits ? They look more like flowers …..

Hywel, they are flowers which become fruits!
Here's some info. I found:

Fertilised flowers develop into small – around 1.2 cm in diameter – globe shaped fruits. The fruit is covered in a small layer of hairs during early maturation that is progressively discarded as the capsule ripens. In the ripening process the capsule shrinks, hardens up and turns almost black, splitting into two or three segments when ripened. Inside are black seeds, encased in a very sticky substance. The stickiness of the seeds is likely to help with seed dispersal.

How are you feeling today Hywel? I have just seen a news item saying that people are going to Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia National Park in droves! Why don't they stay home to keep isolated? Just seems selfish to me ... :o(

I usually tell people I'm 'fine' Shirley, although that is far from the truth. Life has changed because of the pandemic, but it has also changed for me because of a recent sad event. I won't go any further into it. I don't like self pity.

I have seen the news article on how people are going to places such as the hills. Maybe they thought they wouldn't have much contact with others in those places, but I think they are just stupid.
The authorities are thinking of closing the carparks and walking trails but they should have done that sooner.

I have been in the garden this morning, putting my Fuchsias into the polytunnel. I usually do it much earlier than this but haven't got around to it this year. They have become so dry, but all except two small cuttings are still alive.

Hywel, I know of your sad loss and have been thinking of you. There seems to be plenty in and around the garden to keep you occupied for part of the day. Glad to hear most of the Fuchsia cuttings are alive.

I have been weeding out Celandine and wild Garlic, they both appeared from who knows where a couple of years go. Possibly from a bag of bought in compost?

By the way, the Aquilegia chrysantha cuttings you sent me are thriving ... I shall plant them out next week ... :o)

I love this time of the year, we have a lot of Pittosporum and love their little flowers...
