Yes, you can...it will be fine, and it will thicken it up a bit. I think I was too careful with my pruning and should have cut it back much harder. I am amazed to see yours budding up already. Mine would flower in July!

Would like to see it in flower please Julia as I don't know this shrub at all and it looks interesting.
