I am always baffled by you good people on the subject of tomatoes. I have hardly ever grown any that taste anything like as good as 'on the vine' from my supermarket. I have officially given up now! I wonder if its just the lack of warmth here, but even in the greenhouse...horrible watery and tasteless.

WE HAVE THREE DIFFERENT SORTS CK AND THE YELLOW TOMATOES ARE THE SWEETEST. IN THE WINTER I LIKE THE LITTLE PLUM TOMATOES, BUT THE VINE ONES ARE VERY TASTY FROM THE SHOPS. SHIRLEY, GARDENERS DELIGHT AND SUNGOLD ARE THE THREE THAT WE GROW. WE HAVE A SMALL HEATED GREENHOUSE THAT WE START THEM OFF IN. WE ONLY NEED A FEW PLANT S SO WE BUY THE LITTLE PLANTS, WE USED TO GROW FROM SEED AT ONE TIME WHEN WE HAD A BIGGER PLOT AND GREENHOUSE.

Thanks Linda. Sungold I have grown and they were good. A lot depends on the weather here of course. Sometimes there just isn’t enough sunshine. At the moment we have plenty of sunshine!

I HAVE A NEIGHBOUR THAT LAST YEAR HAD A GO AT GROWING TOMATOES IN HER CONSERVATORY...AND WHY NOT IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT A GREENHOUSE. THERE IS LIGHT AND WARMTH FROM THE HOUSE IN THERE.
