Here's a little primer, Kate. The best advice is to know which you have... some blossom on old wood, and some on current years wood. This shrub is cut down to the ground every spring... but others you have to wait until after they have flowered to prune.

yes, you know your hydrangeas, Janey! lost some of the largest heads to heavy rain last night... they're in a vase now!

That’s a lovely hydrangea, Lori. I have a blue one doing quite nicely, however, my pink one didn’t flower this year. I think due to my pruning skills :-(
