Gloxinia.....

Velvety.

Takes me back to my first born as I was given a stunning purple Gloxinia to celebrate his birth ... no idea why! It was the end of November so heating was on in the house ... plant promptly died within a week ... :o(

Beautiful, DD! They don't seem to be so widely seen these days as they once were.

I grew some many years ago when they were more popular. I also seem to remember my wife once brought home a couple of them in pots that had dried out so much they had reduced the price to almost nothing & she brought them home from the supermarket where she worked. They recovered & I think I managed to save them for flowering the following year as well!

Balcony well done......they haven’t been easy plants to grow .........I fell in love with the photograph....but the plant is nothing like, what we have growing ......
