Thanks all for you nice comments. These are really fun and entertaining -to see them bask in the sun on my patio and all the little babies running around. They are a huge benefit eating all kinds of bugs non stop.

You’re one lucky chap!

Thanks Kate - and so are you!

Those are very interesting lizards. The lizards here are running around everywhere. They’re like acrobats jumping on the wall as I walk down the side of the house. Last Sunday the lizards were in my African Tulip tree sunning themselves in the 81 degree weather.

Yes they still amaze me to this day. They actually escaped from a pet store over 10 years ago or somebody set them free. They are Italian Wall Lizards and have adapted to the New York environment. They hibernate over the winter and I see lots of babies in the Spring. They eat all kinds of bugs. I have a good laugh when I see them sunning themselves on my patio. They never got that at the pet shop.

Wow! It’s amazing that they tolerate such cold weather.

They do better than me. Its the Summer heat I can't take we frequently break 100 degrees in July and August for a couple weeks. Its too hot for me.. I can take the cold better. The lizards love the summer heat and they have no problems with the bitter cold.

I completely understand, the summer heat has gotten worse every year here. People who have lived in San Diego for many decades say it’s getting hotter and more humid every year. San Diego was known for its perpetual spring-like weather.

Wow, that's disconcerting. Could that explain the lack of rain and devastating fires?

San Diego is typically pretty dry. It’s the driest and mildest climate on the California coast.

Sounds like lizards would be happy in your backyard too.

They’re everywhere, a whole lot of babies hatched about a month ago.

lol cool post some pics if you can. Do you know what kind they are?

5 Jan, 2021

There’s several types. No sure what type they are, though. They’re definitely not the common alligator lizard which aren’t very friendly and are not afraid of people...and can give a nasty bite.
