That's very early, are they 'prepared bulbs', like the Hyacinths you can buy to flower early for Christmas ?

It’s a lovely variety isn’t it! Have to agree, so very early to flower! Saying that, it’s a pleasant surprise!

No, Hywel, they are bulbs I planted 5 or more years ago & have never been touched since. They haven't been watered or fed or anything in several years. They just "get on with life"!
It's a variety I bought once, probably a pack of mixed bulbs, that flowered on the balcony & that I later planted in the church gardens.
The very first time it occurred to me to do that I planted pots full of bulbs directly into the soil, without breaking them up, I just dug a hole & put the contents of the pots directly in. The only problem really is that narrow border is generally very dry except when we get a lot of rain.

Yorkslass, the great majority of the border is filled up with white Phlox that is slowly taking over the entire border. A couple of more years &, if the bulbs survive, they will grow up amongst the Phlox!
I haven't worked on the church gardens in a couple of years as the church has employed a gardening company to look after the gardens.
You could be right Amy as there is a potato plant in a corner about 3ft away that has been growing there since before I put the bulbs in the border! Every year it grows even though it's very dry there yet has survived untouched all these years! I used to water it at the same time as the bulbs for 2 or 3 years but in the last 3 it hasn't had any artificial watering that I'm aware of.

How often do you see a photo like this? I've been keeping my eye on these Narcissus for several weeks now wondering if they would really flower & what the flowers might look like! Well, now I know! Best of all there is at least one more bud that will flower in a few weeks time, probably when this one is going over.
Some years ago I found many Daffodils flowering in a village not far from here but that was nearly Christmas but to see Narcissus flowering in the middle of November??? WOW!
