I look at this western hemlock growing out of the old tree stump from our small orchard by the greenhouse. It is a shade-tolerant tree growing here under canopy of Douglas Firs. We lost 3 nice specimens in few years. Do not know why. It is my favourite Pacific West region conifer.

I had one in front of my house, but a hurricane knocked it over thankfully not onto my roof. lol. They are nice trees.

Love it, so symbolic, life and death together.

Nature gives as well as taking away. Perhaps it's a good omen for your recent losses.
