Choisya ternata ‘sundance’ - to underplant or not?

It’s looking rather healthy, although, I do trim it - usually in the warmer months. It flowers nicely too, which took a few years for it to actually do. I’m considering pruning the bottom of it so I can underplant. Not sure though, as it looks ok as it is.

I agree - leave it as it is. Maybe put a blue flowered rockery plant at the very edge of the bed?

Thanks for the feedback, Eileen, Amy and Sue! Maybe I shall leave it be, I think I’m to handy with the secateurs at times!

I really want a Sundance to add to my garden this year. Tim looked for one the other day for a mother's day present from the dogs but couldn't find one yet. Oh dear, looks like he will just have to buy something else and a Sundance another day 😂😂

Hi Kate. I agree with the consensus. This bush is stunning as it is. I wouldn't touch it. The rocky mulch underneath is a perfect backdrop - not too showy but still adds a nice touch.

Jen, that’s a pity. However, you’ll be sure to receive something just as nice, plus the bonus of getting a choisya a bit later on!!!

Thanks Paul, I think I’ll leave it for now then. It’s just that I’ve a small garden and I’m always looking for little areas I can plant up with new purchases. My way of enlarging my plant collection!☺️

Ooh, sounds like a complimentary colour there, Paul. I’m now thinking about it again!!

Paul, I’m thinking of leaving it for now...I can’t decide. It’s sort of 50/50 at the minute.

I think it’s just the thought at the minute, Paul. Bit too much digging and reorganising! ☺️
Still a little tired out.

if you do lift its skirts what would you underplant with. I'd go for blue Anemone blanda or even Scilla iberica. but then not have anything in the summer to compete for water.
