Anemone coronaria "Bordeaux".
You wanted to see what this was like when in 'mint condition' after seeing the slightly blasted one I put up in the New Year. This is the first one to appear although others are fast on its heels. It is a little darker than this shows, in other weather conditions appearing almost chocolate-coloured. It's a real favourite and favours our conditions.

Thanks both. I found this in Waitrose, boxed corms. Also bought 'Sylphide' which is a pure pink at the same time. Equally lovely but not out yet. They have been worth the cost as this is their 3rd year. I've never managed to keep them before.

A very striking one too, Ange! Love that little hint of lilac in the middle.
