The Saracenias are back in the pond

The Saracenias are back in the pond (Sarracenia purpurea & flava)

All the pitcher plants have had all the dead bits tidied off and are back in the pond. There are some flower-buds nestling tightly amongst the pitchers.

You really are clever with these plants Sue , I managed to rescue my one plant last year but it still looks shabby ...

Amy, they do look tatty, after winter weather.
Paul, I put them in the pond over a week. Although my choices are hardy, they are all in pots which live in a tray under the carport over winter as frost makes the pitchers very ragged. Then they are put on a floating raft of polystyrene in the pond. (Actually the raft floats just under the water surface to keep them damp)

PAUL, Looking into their growing needs, cause they don't like/need garden soil or tap water because they get the nutrients they need from the flies they catch.

What else?

See who else is growing Sarracenia purpurea & flava.

See who else has plants in genus Sarracenia.
