Bought this echinacea purpurea "red" recently from the little nursery I frequent.
I did plant one out last summer, but, it ‘disappeared’. Not sure if it was nibbled - I thought so as it was a small plant.
I’m holding of a little bit, but, shall plant it soon.

Good luck! We have clay and no sign yet of any of the ones I grew from seed which flowered well last summer. Ho hum...

Thank you Janey, Paul, Ange and Klahanie for all your feedback. What a pity to hear you've all had poor outcomes with this plant...
Here's hoping you all do see something emerge this year, despite the soil and conditions.
Our soil is pretty neutral, I'll try to plant it out somewhere that doesn't get too damp, as Julia mentioned 'dry feet'.
Paul, it's a perennial.

Sorry, Paul. Meant to add, hardy perennial. I hope!

the ones I have are fully hardy but I have them in the poorer drier soil in full sun. They are a prairie plant.
I'd be tempted to pot it on into a bigger pot in a John Innes no 3 type compost. Slugs and snails do like them so keep an eye out for them too.

Thank Eileen! That’s great, much appreciate your advice. I shall do this on Monday. Thanks again!

Hi Kate they are a lovely plant to grow, They like the sunshine . Try some gravel in the bottom of the hole to help with drainage. They don't like to be too wet, and if the soil is clay, that holds the water, try some compost in the hole when planting as well. G ood luck....

Thanks Linda, I appreciate the info, I’ve potted it up and it will get quite a bit of sunshine! I’m really hoping I get some lovely pink flowers this year! 🤞

Thank you, Julia! That is very welcomed advice. I was thinking of planting it next to some of my grasses! I wonder if my first attempt was due to the position I planted it in the garden - an area that gets watered very, very often!!
Thanks again 👍
