Corner ‘cloud pruned’ area.

Corner ‘cloud pruned’ area.

My attempts at cloud pruning in a small corner of the back garden. I decided to try it on these shrubs a couple of years ago. I quite enjoy it, therapeutic really. I need to probably shape it better though.
I always want to call it moon pruning - OH says don’t mention that!

That looks very effective. A job well done indeed.

Feel exactly like you,K...before our huge bushes were removed years ago,John, the gardener (has moved away since then) use to cloud prune them....they did look spectacular....you've done a great job there .

Thanks Eileen, appreciate your feedback. It’s my little corner I like to keep shaped, I like all the little snipping that’s required.

Thank you, Julia. You’ll know what I mean then! It does lend a sense of therapy, not sure why!! I think it’s the focus sometimes. I’d like to have seen your cloud pruned bushes, I bet they looked very architectural!

Thank you Paul! I think I’ll trim it ‘slightly’ more. More definition, maybe...
Do you still have your cloud pruned tree?

Another attractive green area, Kate. You are so imaginative with your plot, small or not. What are the shrubs? And how high do you keep them, please?
The orange gloves indicate true workmanlike tendencies ;-). I think these sorts of efforts become almost meditative.

Kate, for a small garden (as you claim) you sure have lots of plants and lovely corners everywhere. This is very effective pruning. Well done.
Nice picture too, with the orange gloves in the back.

Thank you kindly, Ange. Maybe with the garden being small, it's much easier to fo these sorts of things.
The shrubs I've trimmed are: euonymus japonicus microphyllus - 2 of these, euonymus japonicus aureus, euonymus japonicus white spire, I think one is euonymus fortunei winter creeper at the back plus there's a box ball too. I've an osmanthus at the front. I've probably missed one or got one wrong...
I tend to have them , well, the 'tallest one is about 3 feet. The gloves I forgot to shift them!!! I wonder if everyone else like me, go through gardening gloves so quickly!!!

Very kind, thanks Mossy. I do thoroughly enjoy it, I can sit on the little wood wall just behind and trim the back - it's a tiny but quite secluded spot when the solanum glasnevin has flourished over the pergola full of leaf and flowers...

Thank you, Klahanie! I think I am careful how I 'stage' my pics 😉 I try to have different little areas around the garden to make it more interesting due to its size. I did honestly forget to move those orange gloves! I just wonder how long these ones will last, it's never very long!!!

Thanks for taking the time to list them, Kate. I bought a couple of upright, plain green euonymous japonica cheaply and hope to use them as 'pointers' at each end of a border. Have to think about that! (Every painting needs a focal point and your gloves provide it!!).
