Nepeta

I looked under this earlier to find many fat slugs - yuk!

For enjoyment, it's up there with looking for lily beetle grubs....

Anget, they are the reason I don't bother growing Lilies now!

Julia, I blame the wet weather we are constantly having . . . :o(

Have to agree, the weather has encouraged the nibblers!

Early this morning I looked out to see a huge slug slithering across the garden path . . . put me right off my morning cuppa and biccy!

I think I'm about to give up on lilies, Shirley. At least I shall make a 'note-to-self' not to buy anymore next year. I've been clearing borders today, hopefully the slugs will have fewer places to hide.

Anget, it is a real shame that these S&S critters munch on so many lovely plants. I have been out for an hour earlier and am not happy to find all the Zinnias I grew from seed have tattered leaves . . . :o(

Oh well, another flower I shall not grow in future!

I don't have so many slugs, but lots of snails. These are easier to deal with. I go out at night, pick them up, & throw them over a wall! I have not seen them since despite what people say about them walking back. They have eaten some Petunias but never touch the Pelargoniums. Big slugs are my pet hate :-(

I have planted 4 nepetas amongst the roses this year and cut some back as they got quite straggly. Decided to make up a bouquet only for my cats to go mad and tear it apart and rub themselves against the stems!

My cat loves the stuff - this is probably why:

Researchers suspect that catnip targets feline "happy" receptors in the brain. When eaten, however, catnip tends to have the opposite effect and your cat mellows out. Most cats react to catnip by rolling, flipping, rubbing, and eventually zoning out. They may meow or growl at the same time.

One little pleasure for our feline friends . . . :o)

So many people seem to have had trouble with slugs and snails this year. So far I've not been too bothered with them, touch wood, but I'm not counting my chickens just yet!

I am so annoyed with them Julia . . . they lurk under so many plants in my garden . . . on Sedum leaves yesterday and crawling up the stems of Daylilies! They get thrown out to play with the cars in the road when I find them . . . I have no qualms about that! :o)))

Lol! :-)) :-))

I’ve been going out on nightly slug & snail hunts with my torch and bucket. Needless to say my green bin inside lid is covered with them as I like to recycle them!

That has made me smile . . . :o))
