Rufus is a big beauty, Lori.

LOL.. I will pass along your comments to his Highness. As a young cat, Rufus loved roofs, tree limbs, garage attics, in fact all places high up and strategic. A lurker of the first order, he was like the Cheshire Cat... gleaming eyes in the semi-darkness; we had to curb his night-time forays because of all the wildlife he could interact with. This, coupled with the long cold winters, (and the treats my hub likes to lavish upon him), has turned him into a very substantial CAT. He's still a lurker, just closer to the ground. He will be 10 years on Jan. 7th. Mom's big boy!

I bet the mice fear him Lori.....

Rufus can make the ground rumble!... but he's the original ol' sweetie. His coat is special, Janey. looks silver tipped and so fine and soft that it's prone to matting... lots of brushing and clipping to do. I'm thankful that, for the most part, he's patient with grooming... he has drawn blood though. The injustice of hurting the one who's trying to help him is lost on him. lol... If he's in a mood it's best to not push.
Linda: your observation about mice, made me laugh. He's huge but can move like lightening when he sees game! but I have also watched him watching a mouse thro half closed eyes... so relaxed that the mouse lived to see another day. I still have to use mousetraps spring and fall.

well, friends, this is Ruffie's final update. He crossed the bridge on Sat. morning sometime between 2 and 3 a.m. I had been keeping vigil with him, and fell asleep from exhaustion. When I awoke he was gone... he was 12 years and 5 days.

I am so sorry Lori, what a lovely boy he was.
It is heartbreaking I know I lost my big boy Teddy last February and have missed him every day since. They are such a big part of our family aren't they, and you must have so many happy memories of all those years to cherish..x
