Salvia microphylla 'Blue Monrovia'

Salvia microphylla 'Blue Monrovia'

I found this yesterday in a local nursery. It filled the car with a very pleasant scent as we drove home. It’s a lovely blue flower, not as startlingly blue as the one we saw in the walled gardens at Clumber but I really like it.

A nice addition to the border. Salvias are usually easy to take cuttings from. I do mine about August time for the following year and keep them in pots in the conservatory till the Spring.

That’s lovely Sheila, and I’m grateful for the name … a friend gave me one last week and just said it was blue 🙂.

Nice one, Microphylla seem to be the hardiest types.
