Plumeria Flowering

Plumeria Flowering

All my plumerias are still flowering. They’re not as floriferous as in summer, though. Photo taken Nov. 8, 2021.

Those are beautiful

Thanks! It’s one of favorites.

They’ll most likely be more flowers. We’re in a heat wave through Monday here. It was 90 degrees here by 10:30 am. It’s going to be about 95 degrees here today.

Wow, that's oppressive. Seems like our summer here was one long heatwave with hardly any rain. The cooler temps now is huge welcomed relief.

As Paul said, just beautiful! Such clarity in your photo too, Andy. Added to my faves.

Bathgate,

Today is the last day of the heatwave. Yay! It was 90 to 99 degrees throughout San Diego for the last 6 days. Ugh! Camp Pendleton was 99 degrees last Friday.

Beautiful flowers, Andy! 😃

I would just love to grow them on our balcony! I've loved these flowers ever since I first saw them as the desktop background when my wife got her first laptop many years ago!

I've discovered a nursery here in the UK that specialises in Plumerias - but they are far out of our league to buy! 😞

Balcony,

Thanks. I have many species and a very large pink-red variety tree in my backyard. It’s 17 ft tall and 24 ft wide. It’s been in the ground since 2005.

Plumeria trees have very few requirements. They love sun and heat! Give them high bloom fertilizer in late summer or early fall to set the latent flower spikes which will emerge in spring. In spring when they leaf out they like nitrogen to get them growing. Depending on weather they need very little water. There’s so many plumeria trees here which don’t get any water for many months ( typically 8 or 9 month)

That must be really amazing! I had no idea they grew so big or were so accommodating to grow! The perfume from the flowers must be amazing as well! Does it flower every year for you? I expect you get 100s of flowers! Could you post a photo of your tree in bloom? The tree as a whole so we can see it covered in flowers.

Have to agree with Balcony. They are simplistically stunning. Glad your heatwave ended. Our nights began to dip below freezing.

Balcony,

Plumeria trees grow to 25 - 30 ft tall. It takes a long time to get that tall here in San Diego. In Hawaii they grow taller in a shorter time. It’s the tropical climate they love!

Big Plumeria trees can have thousands of flowers.

Do a search on Plumeria and you will probably see 100 of my Plumeria pics. I’ve posted several over the last 13 years.

Bathgate,

It’s only in the low-to-mid 70’s here right now. Although, low 80’s return for the weekend.

Sorry I missed your comment!

Thank you!

No prob! ☺️

Bathgate:

The hot temps are back. It appears the temps will stay warm to hot for at least another 7 days or so. Also, no rain.

23 Nov, 2021

Here we are forecast the exact opposite! Temps down to freezing, possible rain, sleet or snow & yellow warnings for very strong winds Friday & Saturday! 😱😞

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all

Happy Thanksgiving!

Balcony,

It was 80 degrees (27 c) here today. Very warm weather forecasted here for the next week.

Well it's snowing here right now. I'm not driving in this!

Bathgate:

It sounds like it would be very dangerous.

It’s been consistently in the low-to-mid 80’s here without any rain (normal is low-to-mid 70’s). This is really bad for the horrible drought.
