What happened to the one that did germinate?

I germinated mine on a radiator in vermiculite.

You should have scarified and soaked the seeds after removing the orange beard. But you still will get low germination rates.

Stera, the one that did germinate is growing strongly & I hope in a year or two to see my first flower!
From the photo it seems I didn't cut the orange beard off as I thought I may have done.
Whether it was because of low germination results or because I was impatient I don't know but one at least germinated & is going strong at present.👍😃

(Strelizia reginae) Bird of Paradise seeds being sown in September 2018. Of the 3 seeds only one germinated! But perhaps I didn't leave them long enough to germinate! They can take a couple of months & even then in a heated propagator! I didn't have one & it never occurred to me to look for instructions online. Mine weren't in a propagator but on the kitchen windowsill.
