A Sunday afternoon walk on a beach near us , I thought you might like to see it ..
Unveiled in 2003 as a striking tribute to Benjamin Britten – one of the twentieth-century's most important composers who spent much of his life in Aldeburgh and nearby Snape; the Scallop was conceived by Suffolk-born artist Maggi Hambling, and made by Aldeburgh craftsmen Sam and Dennis Pegg.
The wording on it is .
" I hear those voices that will not be drowned " from Britten's opera Peter Grimes

Klahanie ,It's 4 metres high . we have lovely beaches along this coastline ...
Its a fabulous piece of work Sbg , it's worth a walk to see it ...
Apparently there was a lot of controversy from some saying it spoilt the beach ,I disagree ...

I'm liking this tribute, Amy. It doesn't seem to be out of place, it is a coastal style feature. There'll always be people who disagree.
