The water must be warming up now. It’s always nice to see them swimming around and beginning to feed. I think it’s a good sign that spring has sprung.

Yes, it’s lovely to see them becoming active again and feeding. Ours are up and swimming around - a couple of ‘ frisky’ ones too!

Perhaps they are spawning early Kate. When we had our goldfish they swam side by side and seemed to wriggle and bang up against each other then chase each other through the plants.

I find mine don't spawn until late May early June when the water has warmed up a bit.
