We have cleared the front border on the left of crocosmia 'Lucifer', spiraea, eryngium and hemerocallis. All too squashed. So now we have a pink rose, viburnum x Bodnantense and salvia 'Royal Bumble' to replace them. We shall see how that works out!
Moles are still doing their worst with the grass, but it would look better if we could get round to edging it properly!!

You are both very kind. It has certainly improved in looks since we had some rain! It's the greenest it's been this year at the moment.

It's taken us 7 years to start to make it feel more private, Klahanie. The bottom border has been a pig to get things to grow to size in it! More shrubs have died than not! The large acer is the only plant that remains from the previous owners. The garden faces North so the back of the house can be quite dark.

Your garden looks lovely and the stonework on the patio is very colourful and attractive. Well done. It's been a bad year for some shrubs and plants because of the lack of water and the heat. The Acers seem to have tolerated it all very well.

Thanks for your encouragement, Klahanie.
Glad you like the patio, Linda. It looked blinding when it was finished earlier in the year, I was used to a more subdued (ie. grubby) look! Yes, I'm surprised the acers have done as well as they have this year.

No, I'm feeling the same, Paul. I've lost interest 'till next year.. I'm hoping there'll be less to do!
