Such attractive foliage.

It's an eye catcher!

Very healthy looking plant. It looks like it just flowered.

It did. It has foliage that is 3/4 full sized. I've had them grow larger leaves in pots Andy in the past, but those plants would thrive for about 3-4 years and then die on me. This in ground one has at least lived about as long as I've had them survive.
I might plant another in a more shady spot. They can't take summer sun at all. Full shade plants.

They definitely want sun. I had one outside and in semi-shade it was burning.

I picked a spot that's always in view from the kitchen windows. BUT,turns out that spot gets that overhead summer sun despite the shade most of the day,and it does as you say, burns or wilts fast. I could move it but that's risky to losing it. Best to plant another in full shade.

I can completely relate to that…my poor Chamaedorea elegans was planted for many years under the giant Norfolk Island pine. It always would look washed out in summer and good in winter. I dug it out last year and it looks so good under the shade structure!

It probably would be easy to move. I don’t think Aphelandra has a big root system.

I have to think about that. For now no wilting in "hot weather" until at least February when a possible 80+ returns!

I hope we get 80’s back soon! It’s been below normal here. In the upper 40’s at night and only 66 during the day is feeling so cold! Brrr! 🥶

It's lovely close up, very attractive leaves, Stan.
We're 50f degrees or 10c overseas here at present in the UK.
It has been around 57 to 60f or 14c roughly during the day..to get colder in the coming week I gather.

I heard that the UK had a record mild autumn..people have put off protecting the tender plants for now. This has been the 7th consecutive warm year in the UK also. That's a real trend.
