Burning bush

 Burning bush

Euonymous alatus
Positioned to bright up an edge of the forest. Lives in a large pot and mainly in shade but surprisingly it turns red anyway. I still have a wired "fence" around but it is large enough now that I can cut the bottom branches and remove the fence in the spring.
I do not remember exactly, but think it is there for (about) 4 years. It is close to 6'feet tall now. Low maintenance plant and really not exciting (in my opinion).... until autumn.

Well I love this shrub Klahanie, but as you say it is at its best this time of year πŸ™‚.

That's right Klahanie. I think Amy2 had one of those in her garden too. Beautiful Little vivid seed pods..

In a way it's no different from the trees we grow that flower for two weeks in the spring & are no more than green leaves the rest of the year!

The autumn leaves & winter berries are certainly spectacular! πŸ˜€

Euonymus earns a place here by it’s autumn beauty which is so spectacular I forgive it for being dull through Spring and summer. That pink is sensational!
