Alocasia cuprea 'Red Secret'

I'm in love with this plant! It's a new acquisition that I found on a reduced stand and I have been nurturing it in the kitchen in the hope that it will survive. In certain lights the shiny metallic leaves glow pink - beautiful!

They made me think of those lovely copper ornaments often seen at garden centres ... beautiful colours to this plant.

Thank you all, I'm glad you like it. I must say I've got more interested in houseplants this winter. I'm not sure how successful I will be in keeping them, though!

Klahanie, the pots were on sale, too. I don't usually enjoy pink, but I liked these.

The plant and pot go very well together. Never seen a plant like that before Ange.

Neither had I, Linda, but i had been looking out for one after I read about it.

Very beautiful! It reminds me of my very large Alocasia metallica I had for years growing outside in my planter in the SF Bay. Alocasia species are very rewarding plants.

I grew up around very large Alocasia odora and macrorrhiza plants everywhere. They grew to 7 ft or taller.

They sound gorgeous, Delonix. I hope I can give it the care it deserves here. I'm really enjoying having this one in the house - it's a beauty.

It was so beautiful and tropical. I had a beautiful Alocasia portadora growing in my front yard for 3 or 4 years, then it started to decline during the big drought. I don’t think Alocasia likes the soil and water here in San Diego. Here’s a pic

Goodness! What a beauty of a plant! Thanks for sharing, Delonix.

I’ll probably buy another one. I really like the A. portodora hybrid.
